Ben Davies to start for Tottenham against Ludogorets, Jose Mourinho confirms

Speaking in a press conference (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Ben Davies will start at left-back against Ludogorets on Thursday ahead of Sergio Reguilon.

Tottenham will face off against the Bulgarian outfit in the fourth Group J encounter of the UEFA Europa League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening.

Heading into the game, we are at the top of the group, although both Royal Antwerp and LASK, who are second and third respectively, are level with us on six points. So, picking up a victory here on Thursday is of utmost importance.

So, it is very much likely that manager Jose Mourinho will field as strong a lineup as possible, in spite of the looming London derby against Chelsea at the weekend.

And in his pre-match presser, the Portuguese revealed the identity of one of the players who will be starting on Thursday, with Ben Davies set to get the nod over Reguilon at left-back. (h/t Football.london)

“Ben Davies has to start. He didn’t play Sunday, he plays tomorrow. Of course after Sergio played on Sunday it’s normal that Ben is going to play tomorrow.”

The 27-year-old Davies has featured 12 times for us so far this season across all competitions. The Wales international has chipped in with a couple of assists in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Judging by the trend, it seems like Reguilon will be our designated left-back for the Premier League having been preferred by Mourinho in the last two outings against West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City. Davies, meanwhile, will have a key role to play in Europe and the cup competitions.
