Joe Rodon vows to bounce back strong after flawed PL full debut against Chelsea

As reported by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon has vowed to learn from his mistakes and come back stronger after his performance against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Welsh international arrived at Tottenham from EFL Championship outfit Swansea City this past summer. He has had to bide his time to get regular game time at the club. After Toby Alderweireld’s injury against Man City, Rodon got his chance and made his first Premier League start against Chelsea on Sunday.

We managed to take a point back home from Stamford Bridge as the game ended in a goalless draw. Rodon, though, did not have the easiest of debuts, as there were a few nervy moments, which led to chances for Chelsea.

However, the centre-back recovered strongly, forging a strong partnership with Eric Dier to ensure that an in-form Chelsea attack failed to breach the goal. Rodon, despite ending the game solidly, has insisted that he will try and learn from his mistakes and cut them out completely going forward. (h/t Football.london)

“I got away with two mistakes, but I’ll learn from it and come back strong. It’s a massive game in the league and you’re up against top players, and these mistakes aren’t acceptable.”

Rodon ended the game with the most number of clearances by a Tottenham player while also joint-topping for Spurs in interceptions and blocks. (h/t Football.london)

While it was far from the perfect debut, Rodon showed enough signs that he belongs at this level. And the fact that he accepted his mistakes and is willing to learn bodes well for Tottenham.
