Darren Bent tips Tottenham to cut short Gareth Bale loan deal
Speaking on talkSPORT, as relayed by the Express, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has opined that the club could cut short their loan agreement with Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.
The 31-year-old Welshman returned to Tottenham seven years after leaving the club for Real Madrid. Bale was signed on a season-long loan deal after having fallen out of favour under Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane.
It hasn’t been easy going for Bale back at his old stomping grounds, however, with injuries and fitness issues holding him back. Nevertheless, there have been glimpses of what he can do when he gets back to peak fitness.
Bent, though, is of the belief that Tottenham can not keep on waiting for peak Bale to make an appearance and there will come a point in the season when the club might think that it’s just not working out. (h/t Express)
“For me, the question you’ve got to ask is how long is Mourinho prepared to give him before he goes ‘this is not working’.
“So for me how long are they going to give him and how long are the fans going to give him before they go ‘listen, we can’t keep waiting on him to come back’. It’s kind of a strange one, but at the minute the signs don’t look great.”

In seven appearances since coming back, Bale has scored and assisted one goal apiece. And while he may be still working towards regaining form, having someone of his level of experience is certainly a huge bonus. So, cutting short the loan spell, like Bent reckons, would certainly be not on the table.
