Darren Bent hails Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg impact at Tottenham Hotspur
As reported by Football.london, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has admitted to having changed his mind about new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after the impact that he has made the club.
The 25-year-old Danish international arrived at Tottenham this past summer from fellow Premier League outfit Southampton and has already grown into a pivotal member of Jose Mourinho’s team.
Indeed, Hojbjerg is one of Mourinho’s most-used players this season and the former Bayern Munich midfielder has been exceptional, putting in one of his finest performances this past weekend as we beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League.
And, Bent, speaking after the game, has admitted to having had doubts over the Dane’s quality but is now insisting that the midfielder’s performances have forced him to change his mind. (h/t Football.london)
“I was one who questioned it. I thought, ‘If they want to go to the next level, why are they not signing better players?’ He’s like that anchor you need in midfield, where everyone can be going chaotic around you, he’s the one who sits in front of that back four and does his job.”
Furthermore, Bent went on to compare Hojbjerg to former Chelsea midfielders Claude Makelele and John Obi Mikel who were key members of the team that won the title under Mourinho. (h/t Football.london)
“[Mourinho] had Claude Makelele as well. I think the biggest one who was underrated in that role was John Obi Mikel, he did that job so well.”

There is no denying the impact that Hojbjerg has had at Tottenham. While Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been blowing defences away, a lot of the credit for our solidity has to go down to the Danish international.
Tottenham will take on Royal Antwerp in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. And Mourinho will be hoping that the new signing continues delivering at this level game after game.
