Jose Mourinho reveals the reason behind the absence of Tanguy Ndombele
As reported by Football.london, Jose Mourinho has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele missed the weekend clash against Arsenal due to an injury.
The Frenchman has grown into stature this season after a disappointing debut campaign and has become an integral member of the team. In 16 appearances so far across all competitions, Ndombele has scored two goals and set up two more, making the No. 10 role his own. (h/t Transfermarkt)
However, the midfielder was absent from the matchday squad for the first North London derby against Arsenal this past weekend. And explaining his absence, Mourinho claimed that the 23-year-old was absent due to an injury. (h/t Football.london)
“(He had) a little problem that he couldn’t recover from. We were expecting, we were positive, we were expecting until the last moment. At that moment, he decided he was not ready.”
Ndombele’s absence did not hurt us, however, as goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane fired us to a 2-0 victory over the Gunners. The result meant that Tottenham took back the top spot in the Premier League standings, having seen Chelsea move to pole position on Saturday.

With the festive period almost upon us, games will be coming thick and fast in the coming weeks. And with Giovani Lo Celso also not being completely fit this season, hopefully, Ndombele’s issue is nothing serious.
The midfielder has turned things around brilliantly at the club after a difficult debut season. And, another injury setback could prove to be a dampener on his progress.
