Harry Kane can play as a midfielder, claims Micah Richards
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane can play in a new position as a central midfielder.
The 27-year-old Kane has been in exhilarating form this season. While his goalscoring capabilities have always been well-known, the Englishman has unleashed his creative side this season, with his playmaking abilities coming to the fore.
Indeed, Kane has racked up 12 assists already this season in addition to scoring 14 more in 17 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Dropping deep to great effect, the 27-year-old has done brilliantly to create chances for the likes of Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn. And, impressed by his exploits and his passing abilities, Richards has claimed that he could see Kane playing as a midfielder.
“Kane’s dropping so deep now like, sometimes I’m thinking like he actually could play a midfield role, I mean his passing has got so much better.”
There is no denying the impact that Kane has had with his new role in Jose Mourinho’s lineup. The England captain himself has admitted to be in the form of his life this season. (h/t Football.london)
“I’d probably say it’s the best form I’ve been in in my life, the best start to the season for sure.”

Kane has been one of our best performers this term and his form over the rest of the season will be crucial to our title ambitions. If he continues in the same manner, there is a very good chance that the trophy drought at the club could come to an end.
