Dele Alli urged to stay at Tottenham and fight for his place
According to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur have told struggling midfielder Dele Alli to stay put at the club and fight for his place ahead of the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been with the club since 2015, having signed from lower league club MK Dons and was one of our best players up until the last year. However, Alli’s form has declined sharply over the past eighteen months or so, despite there being few glimpses of his best early in Jose Mourinho’s tenure.
Alli’s decline has seen Mourinho pretty much freeze him out of the Premier League plans, utilising him in the UEFA Europa League, although the England international didn’t feature in our final group game against Royal Antwerp, sending out alarm bells over his future.
Talks of a loan exit from the club have been doing the rounds since the summer, with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain once again interested in securing his services in the winter. (h/t Sky Sports)
However, it is now being claimed that Tottenham, behind the scenes, are urging the 24-year-old to turn down a loan exit in the winter transfer window and instead stay at the club and fight for his place in the side. (h/t Sky Sports)

The report does add that the club would allow a six-month loan deal if push comes to shove but will not entertain offers of a permanent exit.
As things stand, things aren’t looking good for Alli. But given the packed schedule in front of us, there is a good chance that he might get games in the coming weeks. It will be up to him to make the most of those chances.
