Jose Mourinho reveals how he plans on lifting his players up after damaging Liverpool defeat
Speaking after the defeat to Liverpool (h/t football.london), Jose Mourinho explained how he plans on lifting his players up after losing to Liverpool via a 90th-minute goal.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah opened the scoring by netting a deflected shot in the 26th minute. Son Heung-min put his one-on-one chance away just 7 minutes later to level the scoreline.
Tottenham Hotspur had the best chance of the game to take the lead when Steven Bergwijn was put clean through on goal by Son in the 63rd minute.
The Dutch winger was made to pay for his miss when Roberto Firmino rose highest to head in a winner for Liverpool in the 90th minute of the game.
After the game, the Portuguese manager was asked how he would help his team get over the loss. Mourinho responded that the team will not change much and will stick to how they have been playing this season.
“It’s just to follow the same road. It’s not because we win here tonight or we lose here tonight that we are going to leave that road.”
He also mentioned that the focus of the team will be to “improve” in the coming weeks and the focus will be to “prepare the future” of the team. (h/t football.london)
Spurs had less than 30% of the ball in the game. Despite having the best chance of the game to take the lead, Tottenham looked content with the 1-1 result.
That was until Liverpool won the game in the last minute, leaving Spurs to surrender their top spot in the table to the Reds.
