Giovani Lo Celso ruled out of action until New Year, Mourinho confirms
As reported by ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that key midfielder Giovani Lo Celso will be out of action at least until the New Year.
The 24-year-old arrived at Tottenham last year, initially on loan, before his transfer was made permanent in January earlier this year. After a couple of difficult months, Lo Celso has gradually grown into a key player for Tottenham under Jose Mourinho.
The Argentine international has been fairly impressive this season, having bagged five goals and one assist in 19 appearances across all competitions.
Lo Celso came off injured midway through the second half in our 2-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday. And now, Mourinho has confirmed that the midfielder will not be returning until the New Year, effectively ruling him out for the upcoming Premier League games against Wolves and Fulham.
“Gio no, he will not be fit. I don’t know (when he will return), he will not be playing in this period of Christmas and New Year for sure.”
Tottenham face Leeds United in the first game of the New Year on Saturday, 2nd January, and it remains to be seen whether Lo Celso will be able to make a full recovery by then.
