Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane could join an elite list with a goal vs Wolves
According to the Premier League’s official website, Harry Kane could become just the fourth Englishman to score ten or more goals in seven consecutive Premier League seasons if he scores vs Wolves tonight.
Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane is enjoying another fruitful season in front of goal for the club. The English skipper has now scored 16 goals in all competitions this season, nine of which have come in the Premier League.
His next goal will ensure he reached double digits for the seventh consecutive season in the Premier League. While we may be accustomed to the 27-year-old putting up incredible numbers, history suggests that Englishmen who precede his goalscoring prowess are few.
Only Michael Owen, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have scored 10 or more goals for their clubs in seven consecutive seasons. Owen managed it for eight seasons at Liverpool, while Lampard and Rooney did so for 10 and 11 seasons at Chelsea and Manchester United respectively.
While Kane has more than half a season to get his name into the history books, Tottenham will hope he can do so tonight against Wolves. Coming on the back of a two-game losing streak in the Premier League, anything other than three points will see us lose ground in the title race.
Spurs’ best performances this season have been tied to how Kane and Son Heung-Min perform. The dynamic duo have spearheaded the club’s attack and have scored 80% of the club’s Premier League goals this season.
A better all-round player
Moreover, Kane has also added creativity to his game this season. The striker also has 10 assists to his game, combining to make an impressive 19 goal contributions in 14 appearances so far. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Leicester City all dropping points, Tottenham can go third with a win. Much will depend on what Kane does tonight. Whether it be him scoring or even making an assist, the Spurs No.10 will have a key role to play tonight.
