Jose Mourinho tactics at Tottenham criticised by Jamie Redknapp
As reported by the Daily Star, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Jose Mourinho is ‘asking for trouble’ with his negative tactics at the club.
Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves this past weekend at the Molineux. Tanguy Ndombele had given Mourinho’s side a very early lead, but the team failed to capitalise on it. Instead, they sat back and allowed Wolves to ramp up the pressure, before eventually yielding as Romain Saiss headed home the equaliser in the 86th minute.
The result meant Tottenham have now gone without a win in their last four Premier League matches, having seen similar tactics backfire against the likes of Crystal Palace and Liverpool over the past couple of weeks.
And Jamie Redknapp has warned that the manager is asking for trouble with the defensive mindset and the negative tactics that he is relying on currently.
“I think the disappointment is they had it in their hands. If you’re going to keep sitting back, you’re asking for trouble. And this is not a one-off – there are many games where this has happened, so it’s becoming a pattern.
“The more often it happens, the more negative the players get. They start to think ‘it will happen again’. It transmits to the brain and it’s a major problem for Jose right now.”

Despite having dropped points, Tottenham stayed fifth in the table as the teams around them failed to pick up victories either. However, there is a six-point gap between us and leaders Liverpool and that needs to be cut down in the coming weeks.
Up next for us are two home games against newly-promoted sides Fulham and Leeds United.
