Tottenham pondering over a move for former star Christian Eriksen
According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are considering the possibility of re-signing Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old Eriksen spent close to seven years at Tottenham, having joined from AFC Ajax in 2013. However, with his contract nearing expiry, the Danish international opted to leave the club in January earlier this year, signing for Inter Milan.
Since moving to Italy, though, things have failed to work out for him as planned. And less than a year later, the playmaker finds himself searching for a new club. Indeed, Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has already confirmed that Eriksen will be on the transfer list for next month.
Tottenham’s arch-rivals Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Dane. However, as per the latest report, Spurs, too, could dive back into the transfer market to bring back the 28-year-old to the club.
Eriksen, during his time at the club, was a top player and played an integral role in our rise to the top under Mauricio Pochettino. However, prior to his departure, the former Ajax man was nowhere near his best. And considering that his form has hardly seen any sort of improvement at Inter Milan, signing him would be a move fraught with risk.
At the same time, however, the Dane is a proven quantity in the Premier League, is experienced and can add a lot more quality and verve to our side. That, in turn, could help alleviate some of the creative burden that has solely fallen upon the shoulders of Harry Kane this term.
