Tottenham face European competition for Demarai Gray
According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur on Twitter, Tottenham have been joined by Benfica, Olympique Marseille and AS Monaco in the race to sign Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.
The 24-year-old Gray joined Leicester from Birmingham City back in 2016. However, he hasn’t quite been able to establish himself as a regular, despite spending almost five years at the club.
The 2019/20 campaign saw him being used sparingly by manager Brendan Rodgers. Indeed, he started just eight games across all competitions. And his fortunes have dwindled further this season, as he has played just two times across all competitions for the Foxes. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Tottenham had been linked with a move for Gray in the summer. However, a move never materialised. But, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers recently hinted at an exit for Gray recently, stating that it might be time for him to start anew somewhere else.
Tottenham were said to be the front-runners to land the winger. However, now Konur has claimed that the likes of Portuguese outfit Benfica, Ligue 1 sides Olympique Marseille and AS Monaco are also interested in him.

Gray’s contract with Leicester City runs out at the end of the season. Meaning he could be available for a knockdown price in January or on a free transfer in the summer. And while he hasn’t had it easy at Leicester, the 24-year-old has his best years ahead of him. And, it might not be the worst idea to take a punt on the Englishman.
