Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho eyes Issa Diop transfer
According to Claret & Hugh (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is lining up a raid on London rivals West Ham United for defender Issa Diop.
Having risen through the youth ranks at French club Toulouse, the 23-year-old moved to West Ham in the summer of 2018. The Frenchman had been a permanent fixture in the Hammers’ backline for the last two seasons but has lost his place in the side this term.
The likes of Fabian Balbuena, Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna are ahead of him in the pecking order at West Ham currently. Amidst this, it is now being claimed that Tottenham are interested in signing the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.
Tottenham strengthened the defence in the summer window with the signing of Joe Rodon from EFL Championship club Swansea City. However, Jose Mourinho remains intent on further bolstering his defensive options, with Diop now emerging as a target. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham manager Mourinho is a known admirer of Diop, having lavished praise on the towering defender when the Portuguese tactician was still in charge at Manchester United. And he is now lining up a move for the former French U21 international.

Diop could be a fine signing for us. Even though he has played just five times this term, the 23-year-old has already cut his teeth in the Premier League and has shown he can be an asset to the team over the past two seasons.
Diop is contracted with West Ham till the summer of 2023, with the club retaining the option of extending it by another year. It remains to be seen if there is any movement on this front this month.
