Tottenham could listen to offers for Erik Lamela in January
Speaking on the latest edition of the Touchline Talk podcast, Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham could be open to selling Erik Lamela in the January transfer window, should a suitable offer come along.
The 28-year-old signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2013, from Italian outfit AS Roma. He was signed as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale. However, Lamela’s entire time in London has been plagued by injuries and lack of consistency.
Till date, Lamela has featured 234 times for Tottenham but has managed to score just 35 goals. The Argentine international has once again been struggling with injuries this term, making just 12 appearances.
Most recently, he was in the news for breaking coronavirus guidelines during the Christmas Day period, along with teammates Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon. And, Jones is now claiming that Tottenham could consider selling him this month, as Jose Mourinho eyes more additions to the squad.
“If an offer was to land on the table for a player like that, then Tottenham would consider it. Mourinho wants to add a few more players that just fit in with him a bit more in having that experience, nous, winning mentality.”
Given the number of options in the wide areas at Mourinho’s disposal currently, a sale wouldn’t be the worst idea. However, it must also be taken into consideration that none of Steven Bergwijn, Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura have been in good form.
