Jose Mourinho confirms Harry Winks will start against Fulham
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Football.london), Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Harry Winks will start in the Premier League game against Fulham on Wednesday.
Tottenham were scheduled to play Aston Villa on Wednesday. However, a coronavirus outbreak in the Villans squad has seen that match get called off. Instead, the Fulham game, which was supposed to take place on December 29, will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow.
Having racked up three wins in a row, Tottenham are in a good moment currently. However, having made wholesale changes to the side for the weekend FA Cup clash against Marine, Mourinho is expected to bring back his regulars in the starting XI against the Cottagers.
And the manager has revealed the name of one of the starters when Fulham come visiting. Winks, who has of late been a subject of interest from La Liga side Valencia, will feature from kick-off on Wednesday, the gaffer confirmed. He also went on to reiterate that the 25-year-old will not be leaving the club this month.
“What do I have to say to stop with this talk? I said already that he’s going nowhere. When I say he’s going nowhere, what more do you want me to say? He played the last matches. He didn’t play the last one because it was a chance to let players like Gedson get minutes. Tomorrow he’s selected again. If someone’s talking to other clubs I’d say don’t waste your time.”
