Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho gives his verdict on the 1-1 draw against Fulham

Speaking in the press conference (h/t Football.london) after the game against Fulham, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho stated that he was not fully pleased by the performance, but it was good enough to win against Fulham.

Spurs started in dominating fashion with Sergio Reguilon missing a gilt-edged chance early on. He made up for his miss shortly after as he picked out Harry Kane with a pinpoint cross.

The Englishman headed the ball in to make it 1-0, and the scoreline did not change until the 74th minute. A floating cross found Ivan Cavaleiro, who headed in impressively to steal a point for Fulham.

Tottenham had a number of chances to score before and after their first goal in the match. The wastefulness came to haunt them again but Jose Mourinho thinks that it was a performance that merited a win.

“Not good enough, but good enough to win. Good enough to win the game but not good enough because we have to play better than we did.”

No one to blame but ourselves

The Portuguese manager praised Alphonse Areola for his saves in the first half to keep the score at 1-0. However, he thinks that the Lilywhites should have killed the game, something they have struggled to do at times this season.

“This is the same story basically since the beginning of the season… and today was a clear situation where we could and should have killed the game.”

The result would no doubt be frustrating for the team. There were easy chances to double the lead but the players were wasteful. And now, the team sit 6th when they could have 3rd on goal difference had they managed to hold on to three points.
