Tottenham face Arsenal, Aston Villa competition for Morgan Sanson
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have been joined by the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa in the race to sign French midfielder Morgan Sanson from Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The 26-year-old Sanson had been linked with a move to both Tottenham and Arsenal back in the summer and it seems like there is lingering interest in the Frenchman. However, we will now have to face competition from Aston Villa for the midfielder, along with West Ham United as well. (h/t Daily Mail)
Sanson came through the youth ranks at Le Mans FC before bursting onto the scenes of Montpellier, whom he joined in the summer of 2013. The Frenchman spent four years at the club before making the move to Marseille in 2017, where has grown into a key player for the club.
Sanson was an integral member of the team that finished second in Ligue 1 last season under ex-Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas. And while the club has had its fair share of difficulties this term, the 26-year-old has been impressive again.
Sanson, in 18 games for Marseille this term, contributing with two goals and three assists. This has led to serious interest in him from English shores, as confirmed by Villas-Boas himself.
“The transfer window is open, Sanson is a player who is highly rated. He is a boy who interests English teams because of his characteristics, and it is possible that something could happen.”

Sanson’s contract with Marseille expires in 2022. So, there is the possibility that the midfielder can be available on a bargain fee this month or in the summer. However, as far as Tottenham’s interest in him is concerned, it will be interesting to see if a move is made.
The 26-year-old’s attacking and defensive capabilities would make him an upgrade over Moussa Sissoko. And with Harry Winks also not impressing a great deal, someone like Sanson could help the team a great deal.
