Tottenham target Danny Ings prefers Manchester United transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have recently been credited with an interest in Southampton striker Danny Ings. However, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required), the 28-year-old forward would prefer a transfer to Manchester United if he were to leave the club this summer.
A report from Eurosport earlier this week claimed that Tottenham were eyeing a summer swoop for Ings. A prolific striker, the Englishman has recovered his form since joining Southampton after a difficult spell at Liverpool.
Having signed for the Saints in 2018, initially on loan, Ings moved to the club on a permanent transfer a year later. Since then, he has been in red-hot form, bagging 25 goals in all competitions last term. In the 2020/21 campaign, Ings has already bagged 7 goals from 13 Premier League matches. (h/t Transfermarkt)
However, with his contract set to expire in 2022 and negotiations over a new deal not progressing as planned, the possibility of him leaving the club in the next summer have become likely. The 28-year-old is said to have ambitions to play in the Champions League and signing a new contract might come in the way of him moving to a bigger club in the future. (h/t The Athletic)
While Tottenham have been linked with a move for him, as per The Athletic, Manchester United would be the England international’s preferred destination if he were to leave Southampton later this year.

With Carlos Vinicius only on loan at the club, adding someone of Ings’ quality in the summer would have been a great move for us. However, it seems like the striker would be happier moving to our rivals. Any move, however, would depend on how the contract negotiations progress with Southampton.
