Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen pursuit
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham and Inter Milan appear to have reached an impasse in negotiations over the potential transfer of Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.
The 28-year-old brought an end to his six-and-a-half-year stint with Tottenham last January when he made the switch to Inter Milan. However, the move has hardly worked out as planned for Eriksen or the Serie A giants.
A year into his time at the club, Eriksen has struggled to force his way into the plans of manager Antonio Conte. As a result, he has been deemed surplus to requirements at the club and will be allowed to leave this month.
Over the past few weeks, reports of a potential reunion with Tottenham Hotspur have been floating around quite a bit. In fact, the midfielder’s agent was said to have initiated ‘in-depth’ contact with the club over a possible move. (h/t Express)
However, according to Romano, a move could be in jeopardy now as Inter Milan want Tottenham to pay the entirety of his wages over the second half of the season. His wages over the six-month period would come up to €4m after taxes and the journalist insists that there is little chance of Spurs willing to agree to those terms.
Inter have been so clear with Leicester and Tottenham: pay 100% of Christian Eriksen’ salary or nothing.
No chance at the moment, as Eriksen wages for 6 months loan would be around €4m after taxes. Inter have *not* received any approach from Man United. 🇩🇰 #thfc #lcfc #mufc

Eriksen, during his final days at Tottenham, was going through a dip in form. And it seems like that the rut has continued throughout his spell at Inter Milan. So, bringing him back on such wages would certainly be imprudent.
We are already seeing one former favourite in Gareth Bale struggling since coming back. Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy should be careful before deciding to tread the same path with Eriksen.
