Tottenham tipped to sign Odsonne Edouard in the summer by Darren Bent
Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to make a move for Celtic’s prolific goalscorer Odsonne Edouard in the summer by former striker Darren Bent.
A product of the PSG youth academy, Edouard has been with Celtic since 2017, having initially moved on loan before making the transfer permanent in 2018. Till date, the 23-year-old has bagged 72 goals and 35 assists from 151 matches thus far, helping the Hoops exert their domination in the Scottish domestic footballing scenes.
Having plundered 28 goals and 19 assists in 2019/20, Edouard has already bagged 11 goals and 4 assists in 23 games in all competitions this term. The 23-year-old’s contract with the Scottish giants expires in the summer of 2022, and they are believed to have reduced their asking price from £40m to £25m ahead of the summer.
Now, Bent has claimed that Tottenham would stand to benefit from making a move for the 23-year-old, who is yet to make his debut for the French national team.
“I think there’s always a few teams that could use a striker like him. I mean, he might be a good backup, for £25million, he could be back up for Harry Kane at Tottenham, so that’s a goodun there. There’s going to be a few teams in for him.”

In Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, we have two top goalscorers at the club. However, as far as backup for Kane goes, there is not enough quality. Carlos Vinicius did arrive on loan from Benfica but has struggled to get any meaningful game-time.
Should he return to his parent club in the summer, Jose Mourinho will need a new striker. And Edouard, given his track record with Celtic, can be a very handy addition to the squad.
