Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on Napoli ace Nikola Maksimovic
Speaking to Napoli Online via SportMole (h/t Football.london), Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic.
The 29-year-old has been with the Italian giants since 2016. He has so far made 85 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and two assists apiece. Tottenham are among a number of clubs monitoring the player’s situation with his contract set to expire in June.
While he is no Kalidou Koulibaly, Maksimovic remains, in his own right, a very capable defender. He started the current campaign on the bench but has been drafted into the starting XI for six of their last seven games.
Maksimovic is now free to discuss a pre-contract with foreign clubs. With the window of opportunity now open, the North Londoners can grab themselves a veteran defender for the summer for nothing.
Longari expects Maksimovic to leave Napoli the coming summer. He also went on to add that Tottenham are ready to make a financial commitment to secure the player’s services.
“On him, there are many teams ready to satisfy him even at an economic level, including Tottenham.”
Held in high regard!
At 6ft 4in, Maksimovic is a giant of a man who can give us an aerial presence. His agility further adds to the aura that surrounds him. So much so that he has been compared to former Manchester United star and Premier League icon Nemanja Matic. (h/t Football.london)
A number of clubs from England appear to be keen on Maksimovic. The likes of West Ham United, Everton, and Fulham are all touted to have an interest in the Serbian. Having lost Jan Vertonghen in the summer, Spurs failed to bring in a top-level centre-back last summer. (h/t Football.london)

Given that, Maksimovic makes sense even from an economical perspective. Whether Tottenham will push through their interest remains to be seen.
