“Lot to learn”: Mourinho insists 23-year-old Tottenham star can do much better

Ange Postecoglou has completely frozen out Joe Rodon at Tottenham Hotspur.

Jose Mourinho believes Tottenham ace Joe Rodon still has a lot to learn

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Liverpool clash (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that Joe Rodon has shown a lot of potential but still has scope for improvement.

The 23-year-old Welshman arrived at Tottenham from Championship outfit Swansea City last summer. The youngster has had to bide his time to get regular playing minutes, considering that he wasn’t registered for the UEFA Europa League.

As a result, Rodon has featured seven times for Tottenham across all competitions till date. Even though he has featured sporadically, the Wales international has shown plenty of potential that can be nurtured.

And manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is happy with Rodon’s progress so far, but claims that the former Swansea City man still has a lot to learn and can get a lot better.

“Joe [Rodon] has a lot to learn but at the same time he has a lot of potential, he has great desire and I am really happy. We played him not many matches, unfortunately, he was not in the Europa League matches which would have given him more matches and experience.

“But in the times we have paid him the answer was positive so we are happy with Joe and we believe that he can be only better.”

Having not featured in our FA Cup win against Wycombe on Monday night, Rodon could be in contention to start in the high-profile Premier League clash against Liverpool tomorrow. The 23-year-old showed that he is not fazed by the occasion in the game against Chelsea. More of that will be needed, should he indeed start on Thursday.
