Tottenham interested in Norwich City ace Todd Cantwell; face Leicester competition
According to Football League World (h/t Leicestershire Live), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a summer move for Norwich City midfield star Todd Cantwell. However, they will be rivalled by fellow PL club Leicester City.
The 22-year-old Cantwell came through the youth ranks at Norwich. After a loan spell away at Dutch outfit Fortuna Sittard, the Englishman became a first-team regular at Carrow Road. He played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2018/19.
Cantwell impressed in his debut Premier League season last time out even though the Canaries ended up getting relegated. The 22-year-old managed a decent return of six goals and two assists from 37 league outings.
Cantwell has continued to essay an important role for Norwich as they push for promotion once again, even though he missed a chunk of games due to injury. Till date, he has featured 15 times in all competitions this term, scoring twice and setting up four more.
Cantwell’s contract with Norwich runs out at in the summer of 2022. That would mean he will be in the final year of his deal later this year, alerting the likes of Tottenham and Leicester City, who are now considering a summer swoop for him.
Given that the Englishman can play as a No. 10 or on either flank, someone like him can be a handy addition for Tottenham. More so, considering that he still has his best years well ahead of him. However, the report adds that Tottenham might not make a move if there are any signs of a bidding war for the 22-year-old. (h/t Leicestershire Live)
