Micky Hazard: Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is Jose Mourinho’s best player
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur legend Micky Hazard has named Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as Jose Mourinho’s best player at the club. The 25-year-old was one of the club’s low profile signings of the summer but has quickly established himself as one of our most important players.
Tottenham enjoyed a fine spell of form that took them to the top of the table. The title challenge has, however, faltered in recent weeks. While we are still within touching distance, the performances have left much to be desired.
Last week’s defeat to Liverpool was a great example of this. In a match where the majority of the players failed to turn up, Hojbjerg was the lone shining ray of light and also grabbed our consolation goal.
Hazard believes Hojbjerg is now one of the first names on the Spurs teamsheet. The Dane showed some hesitancy against Everton on opening day but has since been almost flawless.
“Hojbjerg’s reading of the game, positional play and quality on the ball has been exceptional.”
The Spurs legend went as far as to name the 25-year-old Tottenham’s third-best contender for player of the season. Given the impact Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have had, only they feature above the Dane in Hazard’s eyes.
“After Son Heung-min and Harry Kane you’d put him up there as player of the season.”
Till date, Hojbjerg has made 30 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham. He has contributed with one goal and two assists. However, it is in his reading of the game and athleticism in the middle of the park where he truly shines. (h/t Transfermarkt)

At 25, Hojbjerg is just entering his prime. If his performances so far are anything to go by, Spurs have a real talent on their hands. He will only get better with age and can go on to become a key member for years to come.
