Jose Mourinho gives an update on Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane after he injured both ankles against Liverpool

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho delivers positive injury update on Harry Kane

Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has provided an update on injured superstar Harry Kane. And it’s positive news for the fans.

Kane picked up injuries to both his ankles and had to be forced off in the defeat to Liverpool last midweek. As a consequence, the 27-year-old missed Sunday’s clash against Brighton.

Given that the England captain has had ankle issues in the past, there were genuine concerns over the amount of time he could spend on the sidelines. However, Mourinho has eased those fears, insisting that he expects Kane to be back in a couple of weeks’ time.

“The news is pretty good news. After Liverpool, no idea. Then the next day, we were thinking about three weeks, something like that.

“I don’t want to be super-optimistic, but Harry is optimistic, he has the experience of some injuries in his ankles and in Harry’s mind, it’s a couple of weeks, so let’s see if he’s right.”

A similar update had emerged on the eve of the game against Brighton and Mourinho has gone on to confirm that things aren’t as worse as initially feared.

It is certainly great news as the team looked abject in the defeat to Brighton without Kane. There was no clear idea or any sort of creativity in the final third at the Amex Stadium as the Seagulls picked up their first home win of the season.

Two weeks’ out means Kane will still miss important games against Chelsea and Everton (FA Cup). Hopefully, the Englishman will be back in time for our game against Manchester City on February 13.
