Tottenham put on alert as Kyle Joseph could be available for just £1m
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are on high alert as lower league outfit Wigan Athletic could part ways with teenage striker Kyle Joseph for a paltry fee of £1m.
Tottenham have been keeping a watch on the 19-year-old for quite some time now and are interested in signing him. But, there are a number of other teams keen on the young striker, with the likes of Sheffield United, Celtic and Rangers also touted as potential suitors. (h/t Football.london)
Given the number of clubs involved, it was claimed that Tottenham would back out of a move if a bidding war was on the horizon. However, latest comments made by Wigan administrator Paul Stanley, wherein he claims that Joseph could be sold if an offer £1m came along, have put Tottenham on alert. (h/t Football.london)
“Obviously we also have a duty to the creditors, and if someone came in with a million quid up front we might have a decision to make.”
Stanley did, however, add that the club would not encourage offers coming in for their players.
“But at the same time I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise the sale of the club, I don’t want the club to get relegated, and you want to keep hold of your best players. So as far as that goes we’re not encouraging any offers and we don’t want any more offers.”

Nevertheless, given the difficult position that the League One side are in any late offer from Tottenham or any other club for Joseph could force them into making a decision. The striker’s contract with the Latics runs out at the end of the season. It remains to be seen if Tottenham make an offer for the teenager before the transfer window closes.
