Tottenham ace Sergio Reguilon ‘delighted’ at the prospect of Real Madrid return
According to Spanish publication OKDiario (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is delighted at the prospect of a potential return to boyhood club Real Madrid in the summer.
Reguilon joined Tottenham in the summer transfer window from Real Madrid, after having tasted success in the UEFA Europa League while on loan with Sevilla last season.
Since arriving at the club, the 24-year-old has become a key member of the side, racking up five assists in 20 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Reguilon has displaced Ben Davies as the first-choice left-back under Jose Mourinho. However, his time in the English capital could be cut short.
Real Madrid had inserted a buyback clause in the deal when Tottenham signed him in the summer. And the La Liga champions are now considering triggering that clause when the ongoing campaign ends. (h/t Express)
Indeed, with Marcelo entering the twilight years of his career, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is open to bringing back Reguilon as competition for Ferland Mendy.
And the report goes on to add that Reguilon is delighted by the idea of a potential return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season. The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks at the club and always dreamt of making the grade and achieving success at the Spanish capital outfit.
And in order to realise that dream, Reguilon is willing to leave Tottenham even though he is happy and well-settled at the club.

If it does turn out to be the case come summer, it will be quite the blow for Tottenham. The 24-year-old, in a short time at the club, has become a key player for Mourinho and endeared himself to the supporters with some fine performances.
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do decide re-sign him at the end of the season.
