Tottenham players accused of lacking personality after Chelsea defeat
According to the Daily Mail, former Premier League defender turned pundit, Rio Ferdinand has blasted Tottenham players for showing no personality and character against Chelsea.
Tottenham suffered their third consecutive defeat in a row as Chelsea inflicted a 1-0 loss courtesy a Jorginho penalty. It was another disjointed and uninspiring performance from Jose Mourinho’s men, who struggled to impose themselves on the game in any manner.
And speaking to BT Sport (h/t Daily Mail) after the clash, former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has lashed out at the Tottenham team, claiming that there is no personality in the side without star man Harry Kane.
“It was an aimless performance. Nothing to it. No personality. If Kane doesn’t play, the personality is drained straight out of the team. No confidence, no character, no leader. Nobody driving the team.”
The former England international also insisted that the Lilywhites’ form was a major cause of concern with respect to the race for the top four, even though there isn’t a lot of difference in points.
“We saw them against Brighton last week and Brighton looked like the team going for Champions League football. It’s worrying. They are not far off the Champions League in terms of points, but the way they are performing of late is a worry.”

Fellow pundit and former Tottenham midfielder was also scathing in his criticism of Mourinho’s players, hitting out at their poor body language.
“I’m looking at players who are scared, they don’t want to get on the ball. That’s the biggest crime you can make as a footballer. Another big problem of theirs is their body language, it’s shocking.”
The performance was simply unacceptable. It is imperative that we return to winning ways against relegation battlers West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
