Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris praises team spirit after Chelsea defeat
Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has claimed that there were positives to take from the club’s disappointing loss to Chelsea.
Tottenham fell to a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at home on Thursday night, with a penalty from Jorginho proving to be the difference between the two sides.
It was another disheartening display from the team, with there being very little spark in attack. However, club captain Lloris has claimed that there were positives to take from the result, especially in the second half, while also praising the team’s spirit.
“In the first half, we were too focussed on the defensive task. That’s why we sat back a bit too much and that allowed the opponent to manage the ball and the game.
“They didn’t create too much in the second half and we opened the game, we took more risks and we showed great faith. We were closer to making a draw than to lose 2-0. It’s football, but I think we can take something from the second half. I liked our spirit and want to take those positives.”
The Frenchman further insisted that the team was close to getting a positive result and need to add the element of consistency in their games.

“We showed the team is ready to be more confident, and that’s what we want to see every weekend. It’s been three games in a row with the taste of defeat, but I think we are close to being back. We have to bring consistency into our performances.”
