Alan Shearer in awe of Tottenham star Harry Kane after West Brom win
According to The Focus, former Premier League striker and BBC pundit Alan Shearer has lavished huge praise on Tottenham superstar Harry Kane after the win against West Brom.
Having missed a couple of matches due to an ankle injury, Kane made a surprise return to action against West Brom on Sunday noon. And with him on the pitch, the difference in the quality of performance was quite apparent.
With the 27-year-old back, the team looked much more purposeful going forward in attack. And even though Kane was guilty of missing a few chances in the first half, the England captain made amends, putting Tottenham in front with a lovely finish in the second period.
Son Heung-min scored the second to lead Tottenham to a much-needed win. And, speaking after the game, Shearer has hailed Harry Kane and the impact that he had against West Brom.
“What a performance he put in. Everything Tottenham did well today, he was involved in. Coming deep, linking up and crossing it out wide, running in behind. Spraying the passes around. Whips that ball in with pace.
“The touch, turn and weight of pass and then the movement is so clever for the goal. He finds the space and then the touch and finish is sublime.”
Shearer also went on to praise Kane’s quality, before adding that Tottenham were average without him.
“Top, top quality that is. Tottenham are an average team without him in there.”
