Jermaine Jenas unhappy with former Tottenham teammate Gareth Bale
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (h/t Football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has claimed that he has been left unhappy with the lack of contribution from Gareth Bale.
The 31-year-old Welsh wing-wizard returned to Tottenham last summer, signing on loan from La Liga champions Real Madrid. However, it is safe to say that Bale’s second coming to north London hasn’t gone according to plans for any of the parties involved.
The Real Madrid loanee has struggled to stay fit in his second stint at the club. And even when fully fit, he has looked lacklustre and has made negligible impact so far. In 15 appearances across all competitions, Bale has scored four times, but has found it impossible to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s Premier League starting XI.
Indeed, after a disappointing display in the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last week, he hasn’t been involved in our last two games against Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion. And, now, Jenas, who played with Bale at Tottenham, has criticised the Welshman.
“But unfortunately, he doesn’t look interested in playing at the moment and that is the God’s honest truth. I’ve worked with him and know what he is about and what we’re seeing is not Gareth Bale.
“It is worrying though. I would have thought that at Gareth’s age now, what has he won four Champions League, scored in finals, world’s most expensive player at one point, he has done it all. The thing I don’t like is the acceptance part, even the other day I am looking at him on the bench, and he just doesn’t look bothered.”

Bale’s second spell at Tottenham has largely been a disappointment so far. Hopefully, the Welshman is able to correct that in the second half of the campaign.
