Tottenham star Harry Winks takes the brunt as fans vent their frustration after FA Cup defeat to Everton
If Harry Winks ever questions as to why he is not a Tottenham regular, he does not have to look further than his performance against Everton on Wednesday night.
The midfielder made just his 20th appearance of the season as he came on for Tanguy Ndombele for extra time. What followed next was a performance that did little to endear himself to the Spurs faithful.
While it is easy to scapegoat one player, Tottenham were rife with individual errors and Everton took full advantage of it. An excellent match for neutrals, Spurs will be forgiven for thinking they shot themselves in the foot on Merseyside.

Jose Mourinho’s side got off to the best start, with Davinson Sanchez putting them ahead in the second minute. The Toffees came back to take a 3-1 lead before Erik Lamela reduced the deficit to one before the break.
Sanchez grabbed his second of the night before the half-hour mark, only for Richarlison to restore Everton’s lead. With time running out, Harry Kane once again stepped up to equalize, sending the game into extra time. Unfortunately, we could not complete the comeback and fell prey to a Bernard strike.
The end result mars what was otherwise a stellar attacking performance. Some of our football was breathtaking to watch and we definitely deserved more from the game. Individual mistakes, however, showed we still have a long way to go if we are serious about challenging for the top.
The FA Cup run may have come to an end but there is still much to play for this season.
Spurs faithful not sold on Harry Winks as Everton win nine-goal thriller
That was absolutely pathetic. Conceding 5 goals is unforgivable, Harry winks just put in the worst 30 minute shift i have ever seen anyone make in a spurs shirt

Gutted to lose that.
We scored 4 good goals. That should be enough to win any game.
Makes the 5 defensive errors so so hard to stomach!— It all seems a bit trivial now 💙 (@MattyFrench82) February 10, 2021
Winks got the cheek to complain about getting more game time to get into the WC squad. Cost the 5th goal and wasted the last shot.

Last time we faced Everton they made us realise how shit our defence was, now they made us realise how Jose ain’t finished, we need to terminate Winks contract and recall Skipp now

Winks looks like somebody who they stopped the bus for along the road just to make up the numbers, has to be moved on this summer along with Dier, lloris, moura, Hart, Davies, a shot on target is a fucking goal now against lloris needs to be dropped now!

watching us defend is like telling a wheelchair user to do a 100m sprint

Can’t believe pep wanted winks for 40m

That whole defence is a shambles.
Toby finished but people went with the ‘experiece’ card, Dier… you know Sanchez scores 2 goals but attracts mistakes like a magnet, Rodon is young he needs a World Class CB to partner with.
Kounde Upa Konate… Levy choose one and splash cash.— Emanuela Oppong (@Manu23588) February 10, 2021
I blame Daniel Levy for this result he hasn’t given José the CB he wants we were supposed to get Dias or Skrinniar and we got Rodon on deadline day
