Mourinho provides latest update on star Tottenham forward after worrying injury vs City

prolific Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min has emerged as a top target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho gives an update on injury suffered by Tottenham ace Son Heung-min in Manchester City loss

Speaking after the loss against Manchester City (h/t Football.london), Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho said that Son Heung-min suffered an injury but he hopes it’s ‘nothing big’.

The South Korean forward went down after coming off worse in a tackle with City’s Joao Cancelo. The incident happened in the closing stages of the game, with Pep Guardiola’s side leading 3-0.

The Spurs boss feels that there should have been a card for that tackle. He mentions that Son has a wound in his ankle.

“Well, he has a wound in his ankle. A wound means a stud. A stud in the ankle means a card. I don’t think a red, so the VAR can only interfere for a red.”

Nothing solid on Son yet

Nevertheless, he conceded that it was not a red card. However, he was amazed at the referee, who did not brandish a yellow card despite being so close to the action.

“I don’t think a red, but if that’s not a yellow and the referee was 5 metres distance but it is a wound in the ankle. Hopefully nothing big.”

Spurs had a torrid time out at The Etihad. Rodri got the scoring underway for the hosts from the penalty spot after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg fouled Ilkay Gundagon inside the box.

The German then turned scorer after finishing from his weaker foot inside the box just after half time. He rounded off the scoreline in the 66th minute to hand Spurs their 5th defeat in the last 6 games.

There is nothing as of now to confirm if Son will miss the next game or not. But the Portuguese manager would be hoping to have his talisman back if they have to challenge for the top 4 now.
