Jamie Carragher takes a merciless jab at Davinson Sanchez for his error in Manchester City loss

Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher blasted Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez for his costly error to let Ilkay Gundogan score the 3rd for Manchester City.

Spurs succumbed to their 5th loss in the last 6 matches as Pep Guardiola’s side won comprehensively on the night. Rodri opened the scoring with a penalty in the 23rd minute.

Ilkay Gundaogan, who won the penalty for the first goal, then netted City’s second just 5 minutes after half time. 15 minutes later, Sanchez was embarrassed by the German as he scored his brace.

Ederson Moraes hit a long goal-kick down the field and the Colombian was expected to deal with it. But he badly misjudged the flight of the ball and went to the ground, allowing Gundogan an easy finish inside the box.

Too harsh on Sanchez?

Carragher labelled it a ‘shocking’ error on Sanchez’s part and criticized the former Ajax man for being bullied by the City midfielder.

“Shocking defending. He hasn’t got a clue where he is, it’s weak and then he gets put on his bum.”

The former England international compared Sanchez to a ‘spinning top’ as he was completely bamboozled by the German.

“He’s like a spinning top! He’s all over the place really and just gets bullied. Gundogan was really clever…”

His comments make sense but only when talking about City’s last goal. By then, the game was already 2-0 in the City’s favour.
