Arsene Wenger questions Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane over his recent ankle injury
Speaking on beIN Sports (h/t Metro), former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger suggested that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is still feeling the after-effects of his recent ankle injury.
Manchester City scored thrice without reply as Spurs suffered their 5th defeat in last 6 games. Harry Kane’s free-kick struck the post in the first half, but that’s as close as they came to scoring.
Kane took a blow to both his ankles in Spurs’ defeat to Liverpool last month. He was taken off in that game but returned to the line-up against West Bromwich Albion shortly after.
He even featured in Spurs’ 5-4 defeat to Everton in the FA Cup and was in the starting XI against City. Wenger believes that Kane is being rushed back to action without fully recovering from his injury.
Kane not at his best
The Frenchman criticized Hugo Lloris for his performance as well before he stated that Kane probably needs some more time to play at a high intensity again.
“Lloris doesn’t look to be at his best. Nor is Harry Kane. He looks physically, fitness-wise, not completely ready to play at that intensity.”
Wenger brought up Kane’s ankle injury and mentioned that the England international does not look over it completely.
“To me he looks still a bit injured on his ankle when he got hurt one time, he went down quickly and it was not a big hit.”
Spurs were way off the mark against City and were made to pay the price. The Lilywhites have slid down to 9th in the Premier League table.
