Serge Aurier gives injury update as he missed Tottenham’s harrowing 3-0 loss to Manchester City
Serge Aurier gave an injury update on his Instagram account (h/t Football.london) after the Tottenham squad was announced for the game against Manchester City on Saturday.
Last week, Jose Mourinho said that the right-back was a doubt for the game against City. He said he would have to see how Aurier responds after the final training session before the game.
After the team was announced, Aurier was not to be seen in the matchday squad. Matt Doherty was on the bench, while Japhet Tanganga started on the right flank.
The former PSG man took to his social media account to reveal that he had missed the match due to failing a late fitness test.
“I did my best to be with you but tested them negative. I’m with you tonight. Good luck guys. See you soon fans.”
Spurs on a bad run
The game, unfortunately, did not go Tottenham’s way. Manchester City scored thrice without reply to seal an impressive win.
Spurs have succumbed to 5 defeats in their last 6 matches in all competitions. We also have just one win in our last 7 away games as our poor form on the road continues.
Mourinho’s next task is an away trip against Wolfsberg in the Europa League. He would be hoping to have Aurier back as he knows he would need his strongest squad going into the business end of this campaign.

Aurier has 18 appearances so far and has earned Mourinho’s trust to be a regular starter at right-back despite the club signing Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
