Peter Crouch believes Jose Mourinho can land Tottenham Hotspur the League Cup trophy

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail (h/t football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch backed Jose Mourinho to bring the League Cup trophy to the club.

Spurs are in their worst form of the season currently. The situation was worsened by a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, which led many to question Mourinho’s future with the club.

Tottenham have lost 5 of their last 6 matches in all competitions and have fallen down to 9th in the table. But Crouch thinks that the poor run of form is the players’ fault more than the manager’s.

“What annoys me about it all is the individual errors that are ruining games. High-profile players are making mistakes that shouldn’t happen.”

Trust in Mou

The former England striker mentioned that Mourinho should at least be given the chance to go to Wembley. According to Crouch, Mourinho is the one manager capable of beating Pep Guardiola in the final.

“…if there is any manager who could do a job on Pep Guardiola in a final it is Mourinho. He wins trophies… Tottenham are not out of it. Not with Mourinho in charge.”

Tottenham take on the Citizens in the League Cup final on 25th April 2021. Their last trophy was the League Cup itself back in 2008.

Crouch’s comments would definitely instil a great deal of belief in the fans. The league title looks out of reach now, with Manchester City in unforgiving form.

Spurs are still fighting for trophies on two fronts. The Lilywhites face Wolsfberg in the Europa League Round of 32 this Thursday.
