Tottenham Hotspur starlet Ryan Sessegnon gives injury update before Hoffenheim play in the Europa League
Speaking to TSG Hoffenheim club media (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur loanee Ryan Sessegnon gave an update on his thigh injury and revealed his return date.
The 20-year-old left-sided defender joined Hoffenheim on loan from Tottenham last summer. Since then, he has become a regular feature in their starting XI.
His run of 9 consecutive starts in the Bundesliga came to a halt because of a thigh injury in the middle of this season. Sessegnon has missed the last 7 league matches for his club but has offered some good news.
He states that he should be back in time for Hoffenheim’s Europa League last-32 tie this week. He appeared in 4 out of the 6 UEL group matches for the club.
“I’m progressing very well and I think the next time you guys should see me on the pitch will be maybe next week, hopefully in the Europa League.”
Sessegnon back in action soon
The Bundesliga side will play Molde on Thursday on a night that Sessegnon’s parent club would also be in action. Spurs take on Wolfsberger in their Europa League tie.
The youngster signed for Tottenham from Fulham in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has seen a drop in the number of starts for himself.
But that is natural for any youngster making a step up to the club. The 20-year-old still has 12 senior appearances for the club and would be hoping to significantly add to that tally next season.

Spurs currently have Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon in the left-back position. Sessegnon, although, is also quite versatile and can play in any position down the left-hand side. A good stint with Hoffenheim would be the ideal platform for him to kick on and become a regular at Tottenham next season.
