David Moyes provides injury update on Michail Antonio ahead of West Ham vs Tottenham
According to WHUFC, West Ham manager David Moyes expects to have Michail Antonio fit and available for the Tottenham game. Antonio, who is the side’s only natural striker, has been out of action since being taken off against Fulham.
Moyes, speaking in his pre-match press conference provided an update on the English striker.
“Michail has a good chance of being available for Sunday because he’s had three days training. We’ve always been careful with Mich in trying to get him right, but he was close for the last game. We didn’t quite think it was worth the risk.
“He’s not been training with the group every day, but he’s been doing some individual work and hopefully we’ll know a bit more tomorrow.”
The former Manchester United manager has had to use Jarrod Bowen and Andriy Yarmolenko at centre-forward in Antonio’s absence. They performed well in their win over Sheffield United and Moyes remarked how his players covered the absence of a striker and adapted well.
Moyes spoke about finding solutions from within the team and praised Bowen for his performance at centre-forward against Sheffield. He added that having players who can play in multiple positions was always helpful but hopes that it won’t be the case frequently.

Spurs could have to deal well with the threat of Antonio if he does feature on Sunday. With their league form not so great, it would likely be a challenging London derby for Mourinho’s men as they aim to arrest this slump and get back to winning ways in the league.
