Dean Smith sends Ezri Konsa transfer message amid Tottenham links
According to the Mirror, Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has insisted that defender Ezri Konsa will not lose focus amid transfer speculations linking him with Tottenham and Liverpool.
The 23-year-old Konsa has been with Villa since 2019, having joined from Brentford. The Englishman has grown into a key player at Villa Park and has played a pivotal role in their strong display in the ongoing campaign. This has seen Konsa attract interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
And, Villa manager Smith has insisted that it is natural for players performing well to get linked with bigger clubs, but added that Konsa will not be distracted by the speculation.
“When teams have good seasons, players get linked with everybody. He is one of our players who have been consistent this season.
“He has cut out mistakes and been a consistent performer for us and played to a level where I know he can. But there is also certainly room for improvement. So he certainly won’t get distracted by any links.”
Konsa is contracted with Aston Villa till the summer of 2023. The report goes on to add that the Midlands’ outfit will look to offer him fresh, improved terms to stave off any interest from other clubs.

Konsa, in his second top-flight campaign, has shown plenty of promise. Considering that our backline has floundered a bit at times this term, bringing in someone like the ex-Charlton Athletic man might prove to be a shrewd move. It, however, remains to be seen if the reported interest in him turns into anything substantial come summer.
