Tottenham ace Harry Winks eyeing summer La Liga transfer
According to Spanish publication Sport (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has his heart set on a transfer to a top La Liga side in the summer window.
A product of the Tottenham academy, Winks has been a regular in the first-team since breaking into the senior setup in 2017. However, the midfielder has found game-time hard to come by Jose Mourinho in the ongoing campaign, starting just six Premier League matches all season long.
This had led to intense speculations over his future at the club in the January transfer window itself. Indeed, Winks tried to push through a move to La Liga in the winter window.
However, the England international stayed put at the club as Mourinho refused to sanction an exit as he sought depth in the midfield department. But, the 25-year-old has already decided that he wants to move to La Liga at the end of the season in order to play more regularly.
The report adds that Winks has always had a soft spot for Spanish football while the success that former Tottenham teammate, Kieran Trippier, has had since moving to Atletico Madrid is another factor in his decision.
Any move, however, may be complicated because of the financial troubles that top clubs in Spain are facing due to the pandemic. Winks is contracted with Tottenham till 2024 and should the club make him available for a sale, he is likely to cost well in excess of £20m.
