Glenn Hoddle claims Tottenham should not sack Jose Mourinho

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has insisted that it would be ‘ridiculous’ for the club to sack Jose Mourinho at the present moment.

Tottenham find themselves in a steep decline in the Premier League and were dealt another blow in the race for a top-four finish on Sunday when they were handed a 2-1 defeat by London rivals West Ham United.

Following the game, reports emerged claiming that Tottenham could be set to sack Mourinho with the season spiralling after a positive start.

However, Hoddle has claimed that it would be ‘ridiculous’ to axe the Portuguese tactician right now. After all, Mourinho has led the team to the Carabao Cup final, where we will face Manchester City.

“No I don’t, not at the moment. He has been brought in to bring silverware, he is in a cup final. How can you sack somebody who has got a cup final in April? It is ridiculous. That is the reason why he has been brought in.”

Hoddle further added that the end of the season would be a more appropriate time to assess the situation and make a call.

“He has done it with every club he has been with so you cannot pick holes in Jose’s past, his history. They are there for everyone to see. I think Jose should be kept in his job at this moment in time. The end of the season would be the time to look at things.”
