Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho hails ‘team player’ Lucas Moura

Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hailed Brazilian winger Lucas Moura for his selfless nature, branding him as a true ‘team player’.

The Brazilian has had a difficult 2020/21 season so far, having been in and out of the team for a while now. However, in recent games, Moura has shown some signs of form. While he may not always contribute with goals or assists, the former PSG man is never shy of putting in a shift and working for his teammates.

And it is this quality that his manager, Mourinho, has highlighted, saying that every team needs a player like Lucas.

“Lucas is a team player, that’s what teams need and many times people in general don’t give the right value to these types of player.

“He’s always there for the team, playing amazing or not so amazing, but always there, always fighting for the team and today, I thought he was brilliant. He played 65 minutes two days ago and he was amazing in his effort for the team.”

Mourinho’s comments came after Lucas put in a decent display even as Tottenham lost out to West Ham United 2-1 in the Premier League at the London Stadium.

The Brazilian scored the only goal of the game for us, heading home a Gareth Bale delivery to spark hopes of a second-half comeback. However, that was not to be as Mourinho & co. ended up tasting another league defeat.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Since joining from PSG, Lucas has been an important player for Tottenham. And even though he had lost his place in the side this term, recent form should see him get more opportunities over the likes of Steven Bergwijn. Hopefully, he is able to get back to his best and spark a turnaround of fortunes for the club as well.
