Mourinho names four Tottenham youngsters who will be in the squad vs Wolfsberger
Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has revealed the name of four youngsters who will be part of the matchday squad against Wolfsberger AC.
Tottenham face off against the Austrian outfit for the second time in a week’s time, having beaten them 4-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 tie last Thursday.
During that game, Mourinho had named promising academy talents Dane Scarlett, Jamie Bowden and Marcel Lavinier among the substitutes bench.
And ahead of the second leg later today, the Portuguese manager has revealed that both Scarlett and Lavinier will be involved again with a couple of new names in Nile John and Dilan Markanday.
“Scarlett is again going to be on the bench, Marcel Lavinier also on the bench, Nile (John) on the bench, quite a beautiful story as he arrived at the Club almost as a baby… also Dilan (Markanday) on the bench. It’s great for the kids to be involved and, if possible, to get some minutes would be even better.”
Scarlett made his first-team debut for Tottenham in the Europa League group stages. Since then, he also featured in a Premier League game as well.
With progression to the next round pretty much confirmed after the first leg results, it will be interesting to see if Mourinho grants any of the youngsters some game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
