Eric Dier lavishes praise on Tottenham teammate Dele Alli after Wolfsberger win

Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has sung praises of teammate Dele Alli after his stunning display in the win against Wolfsberger.

The 24-year-old has been reduced a peripheral figure under Jose Mourinho this season. However, on Wednesday night, Alli showed what he is capable of, spearheading Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Wolfsberger in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 tie.

Eric Dier has praised Alli after Wolfsberger performance

Alli opened the scoring early in the game with a stunning overhead kick before setting up Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale for their goals in the second half. And Dier has been left heavily impressed by his Tottenham teammate, insisting that Alli is slowly getting back to his best.

“That’s Dele! He creates those moments – he’s got a whole reel of them. I’m so happy for him. He’s gone through a difficult period and come out of it fighting. He can be proud of that. All those close to him never forgot the quality he has and he’s showing it.

“He’s getting back to his best and today he had two assists and a fantastic goal, and I think the good thing is he can still do better than that.”

Mourinho, too, offered words of encouragement for the former MK Dons man, insisting that he was very happy with Alli’s overall performance on the night against the Austrians.

It has been a very difficult season for Alli which was further complicated by a recent injury issue. Having now recovered fully and seeming to have found his mojo back, hopefully he is able to become a regular in the side once again.
