Gareth Bale opens up on recent form after Tottenham thrash Burnley
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has claimed that he could feel his form coming back of late after a stunning display against Burnley.
The Welshman stole the show on Sunday afternoon, grabbing a brace as Spurs hammered Burnley 4-0 to return to winning ways in the Premier League.
Bale opened the scoring just a minute into the game, diverting a Son Heung-min cross into the back of the net from close-range. The Welshman added another one post the half-time break, taking a lovely touch to set himself up before unleashing a curling effort past Nick Pope.
In between the two goals, both Harry Kane and Lucas Moura managed to score as well, as Tottenham registered an emphatic victory. Bale has been in fine touch in recent games and speaking after the game, the 31-year-old insisted that he had been feeling things getting right for some time now.
“It was good, I have been building up a little bit to get fully fit – felt comfortable and my form is coming back, it’s nice to help the team.”
Further elaborating on his state of mind at the club and the criticism that he has had to cop, Bale said that he has always been happy at Tottenham and did not pay much attention to the critics.
“I know you get criticism but I am experienced enough to keep my head down, not say anything stupid and keep plugging away. I’ve been happy all season. In the dressing room I feel comfortable and I’m having fun. I’m happy and I’m sure it’s showing on the pitch.”
