Harry Kane poised to stay at Tottenham Hotspur as clubs feel the sting of the pandemic

A report by The Telegraph (h/t Daily Mail) mentions that Harry Kane is increasingly likely to stay at Tottenham Hotspur for the next season as interested clubs are unlikely to make a bid for him.

Kane has scored 209 goals for the Spurs side in 320 matches but is yet to land silverware. And a number of clubs have been circling him for a while.

However, a bid is not likely to arrive. Barcelona and Real Madrid are amid a financial crisis of their own which has been heightened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Paris Saint-Germain, too, are unlikely to sign the 27-year-old immediately as their focus could lie on keeping hold of their star duo, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Good news for Spurs

The news comes despite Daniel Levy slapping a £150m tag on the star striker. Kane’s current contract runs until 2024 and Spurs know that his transfer value would decrease as he nears the end of it.

Tottenham are surely out of the Premier League title race. But Kane and co. still have a shot at winning a trophy this season.

Spurs are still in the UEFA Europa League as they made it past the round-of-32s stage after beating Wolfsberg comfortably. They will now face Dinamo Zagreb in the last-16 phase.

And, the club is also in the final of the League Cup; which is the last trophy that the club won, coming all the way back in 2008.
