Jose Mourinho insists Gareth Bale in best condition since Tottenham return

According to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho has claimed that Tottenham star Gareth Bale is happier than ever and in the best condition since returning to the club last summer.

The 31-year-old came back to Tottenham for a second spell, joining on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. However, the Welshman enjoyed a difficult first half of the campaign, struggling for form and fitness.

Things to be changing for the better for Bale in recent weeks though, with the Real Madrid loanee putting up some impressive displays of late.

The Welshman enjoyed promising outings in both legs against Wolfsberger in the UEFA Europa League.  He also impressed in the Premier League defeat against West Ham United between those two matches.

And Mourinho has now claimed that Bale is in the best physical condition since arriving at the club, which has had an impact on his mental aspects as well.

“I think the mental is always a consequence of the physical. If a player feels great, if he is playing 100 per cent and if the feelings are all good, there are no psychological problems or fears or barriers.

“He looks happier than ever, he looks confident. In training, you can see he has his confidence back, the way he hits his shots. You could see from his goal on Wednesday. It was a confident shot. To strike the ball that way, I think that strike means a lot. He is in the best condition since he arrived.”
