Tottenham ace Tanguy Ndombele reached out to Paul Pogba amidst Jose Mourinho animosity
Speaking to Football.london (h/t Mirror), Tottenham Hotspur ace Tanguy Ndombele has opened up about the conversation he had with Manchester United’s Paul Pogba amidst issues with manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager is not known for his subtlety and openly criticized Ndombele last season. It was not something unexpected given how vocal he was regarding Pogba’s performances during his time at United.
Despite what was a promising first season at Old Trafford for both player and manager, they failed to build upon it. Mourinho was unable to get the best out of Pogba consistently and it continued to be a major bone of contention leading up to his sacking.
History looked to be repeating itself when the 58-year-old went public with his criticism of Ndombele last season. The Frenchman, however, has dismissed there being any similarities between him and his United counterpart.
“It wasn’t like he gave me any advice because our situations were completely different.”
The French duo had a short chat regarding the manager and if Ndombele is to be believed, it was well short of even being close to an inquisition. The Spurs star believes that both the players had a varying relationship with Mourinho and there was no attempt to extrapolate it.
“It’s true he worked with Mourinho but my own experiences weren’t the same and each relationship has its own characteristics.”
The Ndombele-Mourinho affair looked to have pushed the player to a point of no return last season. However, that has now been condemned to the past as the 24-year-old continues to enjoy a resurgent second season.

Mourinho is not an easy manager to work with, especially when the results are not going in your favour. Ndombele, to his credit, has conducted himself well and has let his football do the talking for him.
While he and Pogba may have discussed their grievances, the Spurs star deserves all the credit for turning his fortunes in North London around.
